The Best Places to Hide a Safe

!: The Best Places to Hide a Safe

So you've got yourself a good security chest that's also fireproof. While the security feature certainly won't make it easy to be broken into, does that mean you can just install it anywhere?

Despite its wide array of security features, security safes are not guaranteed to keep burglars from carrying your chest off to pry open later. If your safe is so tight they can't pry it off in a few minutes, a determined thief might just unhinge the safe and carry it off with them. That might sound a little far-fetched but it's certainly not impossible. It makes securing and even hiding a safe a necessity. This extra caution could well pay off in the long run.

To hide a safe means to make it look inconspicuous so that only select members of your family know where it is. Where valuables and safes are concerned, the fewer who know their whereabouts, the better it is for everyone. With that, here are some suggestions for the best places to hide a safe:

Walls. Yes, you can hide a safe in walls. Often, you can conceal the hiding place with art pieces or any decorative object that would make the entire ensemble look seamless so that no one would suspect there's anything behind that painting or photo frame. If you can do that, you can even use walls in obvious places - dining rooms, living rooms, drawing rooms or foyers. Studies, dens, libraries, and home offices will be the first places burglars will look in for safes.

The master bath. Of course, burglars would go looking through the master's bedroom if they were looking for valuables. But they'd rarely turn your adjoining bathroom upside down. They'd expect a safe hidden at the bottom of a walk-in closet but not behind a medicine cabinet.

Furniture. Do you have large or heavy furniture in one of your rooms? These are excellent hiding places for safes. Building a secret compartment in a sofa or bed is a great idea. You must make sure however, that the compartment is not too obvious.

Behind your bookshelf. Whether this is your private office, your library, or your bedroom, make sure you've got enough thick and tall volumes to conceal the safe from view. Also, you have to make sure your books line up perfectly so that no one would suspect there's anything hidden behind a certain stack. If you have an entire wall lined up with books, even a burglar with the keenest senses won't have the time to meticulously inspect each line.

Keeping Your Hiding Place

Depending on the breadth and expanse of your home, there are plenty of good hiding places for safes. The key is to stash your goods in places where people looking for them would least expect it. Put your safe in the most unlikely of places and make sure they blend with their hiding places seamlessly. The rule of thumb is to keep them inconspicuous. For your own peace of mind, keep your hiding place a secret, but remember all the time that it has to be accessible on occasion.

Winchester Gun Safes Offer Great Protection For the Cost

!: Winchester Gun Safes Offer Great Protection For the Cost

Winchester has been producing quality firearm products since 1866. It was this year when they released the Model 1866 rifle that helped "win the West". Since then, they haven't lost much momentum. For the past 150 years, they've been a huge supplier of guns, ammunition, firearm accessories, and what I'll be discussing today, gun safes.

Overall, I find Winchester gun safes to supply some of the best value on the market. While they aren't cheap, they're definitely an example of getting name brand quality for a budget brand price. And when you factor in their huge product line, there's a safe available to fit the needs of nearly any firearms owner.

Winchester manufactures a line of personal handgun safes called the eVault series, which are incredibly popular. I have one sitting by the bed in my guest room, and it is very easy to use. The four buttons on the top permit simple no-look entry, and the combination can be programmed randomly enough to prevent anyone from guessing it. There are three models available, the largest of which, the ev1200, boasts two shelves for multiple pistols, all the while small enough to fit underneath your nightstand. For around , you can't beat it an eVault.

Of course, they also produce an incredible line of full blown long gun safes. These are steel boxes, created for supreme protection - not some sheet metal, break-in prone gun cabinet. They come available in the Tradition, Legend, and Legacy series, each boasting a high level of fire protection, as well as security against burglary. Their most expensive and feature-loaded model, the Legacy is rated to withstand a 1200 degree fire for an hour. In addition, it weighs 1000 lbs, can hold 51 guns, and is sealed in by an ultra secure 18 1 1/2" steel bolts around the perimeter of the door - all for an average cost of 00.

Of course, the Legacy is the Winchester gun safe flagship, but the other models easily provide an equal amount of value, depending on your requirements. If you're just looking for a massive tank of a safe for a relatively inexpensive price, you should consider the Tradition series. Though it doesn't boast quite the bolt count or level of fire protection, the security is still top notch, and you can hold over 50 rifles and shotguns in the top model.

All Winchester gun safes are made with a beautiful Western charm, so they aren't an eye sore in the house. If you're serious about protecting your gun safe and your other valuables, and you don't want to go broke doing it, you should strongly consider a Winchester gun safe.

How to Install a Fire Proof Safe in Your Home?

!: How to Install a Fire Proof Safe in Your Home?

You have a wonderful home but you may be concerned with the safety of your valuables that you keep at home for regular use due to unforeseen incidents like burglary, fire breakout etc. Choose one of the good fire proof safes and get it installed in your home so that you keep your valuables in that safe with high security lock that reduces the risk of loss due to fire or burglary.

Here, I will instruct you on how to install a fire proof safe in a step by step manner so that you can help your friends or relatives to install their own safe. Initially, procure necessary tools to make a hole in a wall of your house such as pencil, nails, scale, a hammer, level and a saw. Mark the lining with the help of pencil in your bedroom or in any room where you want to fix your safe. Here you should have measured the perimeter of your safe box before proceeding with the marking.

Be careful not to structurally damage the building by making holes at inappropriate places for which you can seek the help of your home builder. Use your saw to cut an appropriate hole to fit the size of your fire proof safe so that you can insert your safe inside the wall. In case of concrete wall you may have to use special cutters to cut through the concrete wall or in case of bricks be intelligent and break along the lining of bricks so that you can fill the gaps with mortar and have your safe permanently installed. In case of concrete also, use Plaster of Paris or cement paste to fix the safe to the wall perfectly and permanently. Make sure that your fire safe is not visible at first glance because it is important not to let your safe visible to outsiders which makes it more vulnerable to burglary and stealing.

Keep your Home and Family safe, way to protect your children and your house

If you are in search for something to protect your house then the residential security systems are the best for you. The wired security systems are good for the people who are constructing their new house as they can be easily installed into the walls but it is not a good idea for the people who already own a house. If you have an old home or a flat then you must definitely go for the wireless residential security systems as they are easy to install with a keypad fitted on their wall. Moreover the people living in the rented buildings are usually not allowed to install the wires. The fitting of wires of the wired systems is also very difficult in the walls that are plastered or covered with wallpapers. Thus we can say that the wireless solution offer you everything that you get from wired security systems but with no headache of the wires and their installation in the walls.

It is very helpful for the people who are completely dependent on their mobile phones and do not own a landline connection. Moreover now with modern techniques the security systems have an access to the cell phones also and report to such Monitoring centers. This feature has now become a necessity as today almost everyone prefers mobiles instead of traditional telephones. It is also able to detect the release of some toxic gases like carbon monoxide. If you have a gas furnace, fireplace or a heater then you must definitely install the security system for the safety purposes as otherwise you can't detect the presence of such gases as they are invisible.

It has many advantages. Some have been discussed here.
It detects the smoke- Similar to the wired security systems the wireless systems also have sensors that can detect smoke, fire or gases and hits the alarm to report the danger at the Monitoring centre. This allows the family members to take necessary steps and could also evacuate the home in the mean time the fire department sends the rescue team. Medical emergency- the systems are very beneficial for the people that have a family member who is medically not well and could require the medical help like ambulance or a doctor at any time. Whenever alarm detects any such emergency the alarm immediately sends the alert report to the Monitoring center for help. In the United States it has been estimated that in every 15 seconds there is an incident of a theft or some other happening, in such situations the installation of the residential systems becomes very necessary. Moreover these are also essential in Case of fire or any toxic gas. Safeguarding ones home should be the most important duty for the person. The home security system can help one to protect his/her family, property and belongings against all odds and unwanted calamities.

Small Fireproof Safes

!: Nice Small Fireproof Safes

Buying a small fireproof safe for your home or business is a great investment. Having your own safe means you don't have to pay for a box at the bank and you don't have to travel to the bank every time you need something. Besides keeping cash, it's a perfect place for passports, social security cards, jewelry, important documents such as titles to a vehicle, etc.

Safes are available in many sizes, shapes, and colors. Some weigh as little at 14 pounds and others weigh over 100. The smaller ones are useful for cash, small items, a coin box for an event, etc. A safe to hold documents, jewelry, etc. should be a little bit larger.

Things to look for when buying are , size, weight, convenience of use. Some safes are easier to open. This is good for you, but also easier if stolen to open so may not be a good point. It should be a little bit difficult to open so even if someone walks off with it, chances are they won't get into it. It should be fire proof and water proof and not fire resistant and water resistant. If you do have a fire, most likely it will be put out with water so it should be both.

The larger safes come with an anchoring hole so you can bolt the safe to a wall or floor and no one will be able to remove it. This is great for putting in your basement or closet and keeping all your papers and valuables in. The small fireproof safes are great for keeping things safe and dry. They should have a handle on them so you can move them around. If there is a combination lock, make sure it has a key backup in Case you forget the combination.
